Cam Doctor Until recently, my cams - Camalots, Aliens, Friends and various TCUs - were a salvage yard of kinked, frayed and broken trigger cables. One, a large black cam that shall remain nameless, even had a trigger wire that kept pulling out, requiring re-threading before each placement, a quirk I would "forget" to related to my partners: "I didn't tell you about the trick wire? Oops. Sorry." I could, of course, haved shipped each cam off to its respective factory for a tune-up, but who has boxes, and where do you send them? Thankfully, the Cam Doctor makes house calls. The Doc's do-it-yourself trigger-cable repair kit ($42.99) has enough wires, cables and swages to patch up 10 or so units, and comes with a nifty crimping tool that gives you endless options for rigging hanging stoves, keeper cords, etc.

Repairing my first trigger wire took about an hour and three tries to get just right. It was a steep, tedious learning curve, and required reading the included instructions, something I hadn't done since screwing the new barbecue grill together. As you're probably aware, the Cam Dr. kit is invaluable in resurrecting older generation camming pieces. These days, unless you can find NOS trigger kits tucked away in the back of your local mountain shop, your options for getting older cams back on your rack consists of either rigging some temporary, less-than-optimal fix or sending them back to the factory for a repair and the inevitable "extended stay." Thanks to the Cam Dr. Kit, I've been able to repair a variety of different cams at a fraction of the cost of aftermarket trigger kits or factory repairs. With a little practice, my repaired cams work and look as good as they did when they came from the factory - matter of fact, I think they are better and will ultimately last longer!

I regularly post on a couple internet climbing forums (Supertopo and Mountain Project). There is some good feedback on these forums about your Cam Dr. kit and the stellar customer service you provide. I recently read a post from a guy that bought a complete Cam Dr. kit only to find that the crimping tool was "wrong size" or otherwise defective. Once you were notified, you immediately sent an explanation and brand new tool - completely free of charge - and did not even ask for the bad one back. I thought this was a pretty cool thing to do to "make it right" for the customer. I will certainly add to your positive feedback and share my experience with my comrades.
